Product Summary

DJI SDR Transmission Combo 2 is the more complete starting point for productions that need both ends of the wireless link from day one. Rather than building around a single transceiver, it gives crews a ready-made two-unit system for camera-to-monitor transmission, remote operation and more advanced multi-camera workflows.

The second-generation platform increases CE range from 3km to 4km and raises maximum transmission quality from 1080p/60 to DCI 4K/60p 10-bit HDR over HDMI or DP. Latency remains as low as 35ms, while Auto Channel 2.0 improves frequency coordination when several systems are operating in the same environment.

Because either unit can switch between TX and RX roles, the Combo is not locked into a fixed transmitter/receiver layout. That makes it better suited to changing production demands, from a conventional one-camera link to more involved setups using additional receivers, multiple groups, compatible RS stabilisers, Ronin 2, Master Wheels and the DJI Ronin app.

What’s new?

Compared with the previous generation, the system brings longer CE transmission range, DCI 4K/60p 10-bit HDR, Auto Channel 2.0 and a switchable TX/RX architecture. The Combo adds a more production-ready route into those upgrades by supplying a complete two-unit link while retaining the flexibility to reassign either transceiver as the setup evolves.

In More Detail

In More Detail

4K monitoring with higher bitrate

H.265 transmission supports a maximum encoding bitrate of 50Mbps and bandwidth up to 40MHz. DCI 4K and UHD 4K input/output run from 23.98 through to 60fps, alongside 1080p and 720p formats, with 4K available through the main unit's HDMI and bottom USB-C/DP ports.

Audio embeds through HDMI, DP or SDI when using the optional Expansion Plate, output at 16-bit/48kHz stereo PCM.

Compact and adaptable

At approximately 136g including antennas and 76 x 61 x 25mm excluding antennas and the Cold Shoe Adapter, each unit adds little bulk to handheld, gimbal and mounted setups.

The main unit provides HDMI input/output alongside two USB-C connections. The top port handles PD power input/output; the lower one covers DP input/output, power, activation, firmware updates, log export, mobile app connection and compatible DJI equipment.

The optional Expansion Plate adds SDI input/output alongside further HDMI and USB-C connectivity, and supports SDI metadata transmission from cinema cameras including ARRI and RED.

Fast camera switching

Move between camera feeds directly from the transceiver or the Ronin app, no rebooting, scanning or re-pairing required. That makes changing viewpoints quicker on multi-camera productions where operators need to move between sources through a shoot.

Professional and mobile monitoring

HDMI and DP connect directly to professional monitors; add the Expansion Plate for SDI. A receiver can also connect by cable to a compatible phone or tablet running the Ronin app, turning a spare handset into a stable, high-bitrate mobile monitor.

The system operates across 2.4GHz and supported 5GHz bands. 5.8GHz and DFS band availability varies by country or region. 5.8GHz and DFS band availability varies by country or region.

Monitoring tools in the app

LUT support, histogram, waveform and false colour give every operator a familiar way to judge exposure and colour without needing a dedicated monitor of their own.

Remote camera control

PTP support lets compatible settings including aperture, shutter speed and ISO be viewed and adjusted from the app, alongside photo capture and video recording. CEC control is also available with compatible Sony cameras through Mirror Control mode.

Broader Ronin integration

Compatible RS stabilisers operate wirelessly through the app via Force Mobile, virtual joystick and recentering. Ronin 2 and Master Wheels are supported too, for larger cinema rigs, cranes and vehicle-mounted work.

RS 4 Pro, RS 4 and RS 3 Pro need the separately available USB-C to CAN Gimbal Control Cable; Ronin 2 and Master Wheels use the USB-C to 4-pin version instead. RS 5 is also supported.

Add compact and action cameras

Osmo Action 6 and Osmo Pocket models from Osmo Pocket 4 onwards connect over USB-C for monitoring and power, a practical way to bring smaller cameras into sports, reality and hard-to-reach setups where a conventional rig isn't practical.

Flexible power

Run it from standard NP-F batteries (6.8-8.4V), USB-C power (6.8-17.5V DC), or 15V/3A over PD (needs a 65W+ adapter). Compatible RS stabilisers, Ronin 2 and Master Wheels can also power the unit directly when mounted.

Consumption varies with setup: in a one-transmitter/one-receiver pairing, DJI rates the transmitter at roughly 8.52W and receiver at 7.58W, rising to around 10.36W and 8.89W with an Expansion Plate fitted and SDI in use.

Ready for working environments

Operating temperature spans -10°C to 40°C, covering most indoor and outdoor production conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use it with the original SDR?

No. It can't cross-connect with other DJI video transmission products, so first-generation units can't join the same group.

Can I use third-party antennas?

No. The antennas are non-removable and third-party antennas aren’t supported.

Can I use several video connections at once?

Depends on the role. As a transmitter, only one input is active at a time. As a receiver, the main unit outputs via DP or HDMI; add the Expansion Plate and you can run up to three feeds simultaneously across the main unit, SDI and HDMI.

Will it interfere with wireless microphones?

Possibly, if sharing a 2.4GHz channel with other wireless gear nearby. Channel selection can be adjusted when needed, and the Channel Dashboard shows signal quality to help pick a cleaner option.

Which cables do I need to buy separately?

A USB-C firmware update cable is included. The L-shaped USB-C video cable and gimbal control cables aren't: RS 4 Pro, RS 4 and RS 3 Pro use the USB-C to CAN cable, while Ronin 2 and Master Wheels need the USB-C to 4-pin version.

What is the difference between the standard version and the Combo?

The standard package includes one switchable transceiver, while the Combo includes two, providing both ends of a wireless link from the outset. Either unit can operate as TX or RX, so their roles can be reassigned as the setup changes.

Which version should I choose?

Choose the single unit when adding to an existing setup or when only one additional transceiver is required. The Combo makes more sense when starting a new system, with two units ready for camera-to-monitor transmission and scope to expand with additional receivers later.
