Panasonic LEICA DG SUMMILUX 25mm f/1.4 ASPH Summary

Panasonic Lumix Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 II ASPH Lens Summary

With a focal equivalent of 50mm the updated mark II Lumix Leica Summilux 25mm f/1.4 II ASPH Lens from Panasonic provides a classic focal width with bright aperture. Bearing the DG moniker means complying with Leica’s highest optical standards within the micro four thirds lens range. As such results are impressive with extreme clarity across the frame along with precise rendering and accurate colours. Panasonic has added their Nano surface coating which reduces reflections and ghosting for backlit subjects.

Two aspherical and one UHR lens can be found within 9 elements in total, which are responsible for the excellent quality results. The bright f/1.4 aperture opens this lens up to a range of subjects which include of course portraits, but also general shooting travel, landscapes, cityscapes and documentary.

Looking to sell your Used Panasonic Leica DG Summilux 25mm f1.4 II ASPH Lens?

Our Verdict

The Panasonic Lumix Leica DG Summilux 25mm f/1.4 II ASPH Lens is the perfect standard prime for discerning users who demand the best results achievable for a wide range of subjects. This focal width is tried and tested whether you capture portraits, street scenes or travel images and also has an excellent close focus of just 30cm. Results are impressive from Leica’s DG formula, rendering excellent levels of detail and resolution from any micro four thirds sensors. The size and weight of the updated 25mm f/1.4 mark II remain compact, ideal for travel and simply top leave on the camera ready to shoot.

With the bright f/1.4 aperture users will be able to continue shooting hand held in darker situations or as natural light dips, which is excellent news for street photography where subjects are often in shadows. Shooting into light sources still renders well controlled results from a Nano coating found in the best Panasonic Lumix lenses. Choose this over the Lumix G 25mm F/1.7 ASPH for a brighter aperture with more glass and slightly sharper results.
